Objectives
The Cultural Center seeks to:
1. Create a financially self-sustaining entity, generating income through arts and culture programming, retail merchandising, food retail sales and other revenue generators.
2. Serve as an economic catalyst, stimulating business activity along the Orleans Avenue corridor and other sections of Treme, which have been economically depressed for many years
3. Create and present a permanent “living” repository and exhibit of the cultural, musical and arti]stic talents and treasures indigenous to the African-American community of New Orleans and its unique, historic Fauborg (neighborhood), Treme.
4. Serve as an educational/cultural training site and resource for skill and technological development that can be translated into economically viable ventures and careers, while preserving and sharing this community’ s unique artistic and cultural traditions.
5. Provide a “state of the art” production facility in a historically/culturally significant building that will (a) inspire and attract local, regional and national talent (b) generate commensurate revenue and (c) fill avoid in entrepreneurial involvement by Treme residents and African-Americans in the areas of tourism, music business and stage productions.
